Chapter 8
Steve thought about what Lydia said but his emotions took the better of him. He found Stacey sitting on the porch, her head was buried in her hands.
“Hey,” he looked at her, waiting for a response.
“You shouldn’t be out here,” she looked back at Steve with tearful eyes.
“You know, I think it’s kinda cool you’re a werewolf, um, halfbreed. Come to think of it though, half werewolf and half witch, that’s bad ass. It’s kinda like Teen Wolf but with a twist,” he chuckled then looked at Stacey who have him a death stare. He quickly stopped laughing, avoiding eye contact with her.
“I’m sorry. I can’tt even imagine what you myst be going through.”
“Exactly, Steve, you don’t understand. My dad’s dead and so is my mum and now I just heard my step-uncle wants to kill me. What the heck am I supposed to do now?”
“Well, get revenge.”
“Huh?”
“Yeah. That should be your motive. Get back at your step-uncle for ruining your life. I don’t see whaynyous shouldn’t, I mean, your life is a total mess right now and he’s the reason behind it.”
“He’s gonna pay for what he did!” Stacey gnarled, sqaazing her hands into a fist. A motorbike unexpectedly showed up, parking in front of them. The two jolted from the porch, wondering who it was that owned the bike. The headlights of the bike deemed, revealing a male human figure. As the rider was about to take off his helmet, Lydia opened the door.
“Hendricks, what took you so long?”
“That’s Hendricks?” Stacey asked aloud, remembering who Hendricks was.
“Hey, sis. Sorry, I kind of lost track of time,” he took of his helmet, suddenly starting at Stacey. “Do I know you from somewhere?”
“Oh, that’s Stacey. You remember her from when you two were still kids right?”
“Oh, yeah. Wow, Stacey, you’re all grown up now.”
Stacey flushedd red. Steve suddenly got the memo.
“And who’s that? Your boyfriend?”
“Oh, this is Steve. He’s not my boyfriend.”
“Hey, man,” Steve took out his hand for a handshake.
Hendricks ignored him, not noticing Steve’s hand. He gave Stacey a warm smile before disappearing into the house with Lydia.

“So, Steve and Hendricks will be sharing a room, while Stacey will sleep in the guest room and I in mine,” Lydia addressed the three after dinner.
“Fine. Just as long as he doesn’t snore,” Hendricks said and walked past Steve, bumping into him.
Steve turned to Stacey, leaning closely to Stacey, “I don’t think he likes me very much–
“Hey, Steve, when will you go back to Riverdale?” Stacey wondered.
Steve was taken unawares by Stacey’s question. “It’s almost like you want me to go.”
“No, it’s not that. I’m worried your parents might be looking for you.”
“Oh, that? Um, I told them I was staying at friends place for the weekend, so they won’t expect me until Sunday.”
“Oh, okay.”
“Don’t worry, you won’t even know I’m here,” he smiled warmly and headed for the stairs. “Good night, Stacey.”
As Stacey watched Steve climb up the stairs, she was unaware of Lydia’s presence.
“He likes you,” she whispered to Stacey, who smiled in return.
**
Stacey tried her very best to get some sleep but it almost seemed like the new of environment affected her.
Each time she shut her eyes, the image of the gruesome fire and her dying mother flashed in her mind. She turned from one side of the bed to another trying to get rid of the image.
“I’m going to kill you,” she heard someone say from a distance in her dream.
“Who said that?” she searched around for the owner if the voice.
“Turn around.”
She did so and was faced with a seemingly terrifying creature with long ears, sharp teeth and a scar across the face. It was the scareiest looking werewolf she had ever seen and she knew because she had seen the werewolf version of herself.
“Hello, Stacey.”
