Chapter 10
“Ugh!” Stacey groaned the moment she smashed into a tree, falling faced-flat on the ground.
*Get up, we’re not done yet,” Hendricks growled at Stacey.
“I…I can’t. I’m not strong enough,” she struggled.
“Is this what you’ll do when Jason comes and tries to kill you? Don’t you want revenge? or are you just gonna keep crying until he’s done with you?”
“I…don’t know! Just leave me alone!” Stacey glared at Hendricks with her eyes filled with tears.
Hendricks mellowed back into his human form, standing and watching Stacey cry. She tried to place a finger on why she was crying but couldn’t seem to understand. Generally, revenge was the greatest motivator, but Stacey didn’t seem to want revenge even after everything Jason had done to her. But how was someone as inexperienced as her supposed to take revenge?
“C’mon, you can stop crying now,” Hendricks moved closer to Stacey, holding her in his arms and trying to comfort her.
“I’m fine, Hendricks, thank you,” untangling herself from his grip and getting up on her feet. Hendricks didn’t the same.
“I think we should call off today’s training.”
“What? Aunt Lydia said I need to train. For all we know, my step-uncle could be plotting something terrible for me. I need to be strong.”
“You’re just not ready. You can’t even transform let alone fight, it’s useless. From the looks of things, Jason’s probably plotting an attack on the full moon, which happens to be tomorrow. Full moons are when wolves reach the maximum capacity of their power. He knows where you are, no doubt, and my advice– runaway.”

Lydia settled in a chair right next to Steve, and two cups of freshly squeezed lemonade sat on a stool in from of the two.
“Want some?” Lydia offered Steve while she grabbed a cup.
“Sure, thanks,” he grabbed the other cup.
“Thank you for bringing Stacey here, Steve. She’s lucky to have someone like you.”
“Oh, yeah. Stacey saved me a while back, I was only paying back the favor,” he smiled.
“You like her, don’t you.”
“I only realized that I do. I mean, she doesn’t see me that way.”
“She does. She just doesn’t know it yet.”
“Steve giggled, “I feel sorry for her though. Her uncle…sorry, step-uncle. Why does he want her dead?” he looked at Lydia, curious.
“Stacey’s father, Spencer was different from the other Alpha who ruled. The wolf laws were too rigid to amend most of them. Most of the wolves did not agree which led to him being dethroned and his step-brother Jason being. As defiant as ever, Spencer married a witch. Their union bore Stacey which was an abomination. Spencer fled with his family knowing Jason would come for him,” she sighed, sipping her cup of lemonade.
“Since he’s the Alpha now, what else does he want? He murdered both his brother and his brother’s wife, and now Stacey. What more could he possibly want?”
“There was this prophecy from before Spencer was born, and don’t know how Jason found out it. The prophecy made mention of a halfbreed who would bring peace to those who seek it and conflict to the rest who refuse it. Stacey is the halfbreed in the prophecy and Jason wants to get rid of her.”
Steve froze, unable to utter a word, and that was when they showed up. Two black cars with tinted windows parked in front of the house, from each car emerged four guys in leather jackets and a tattoo on their necks.
Lydia dropped her glass out of shock knowing who they were. Steve on the other hand had no idea what was going on.
“Steve, inside, now!” Lydia growled.
