Celine Dion, a popular Canadian singer, has disclosed the reason for her extended quiet, stating that she is suffering from a rare neurological illness known as Stiff-Person syndrome.
Celine Dion spoke about her tragic struggle with life-changing illnesses, which she describes as a “one-in-a-million” situation.
As a result of this event, the singer has been forced to cancel her European tours slated for February 2023, as she stated in the caption of her Instagram post announcing the situation.
“I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time, and it’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through…It hurts me to tell you that I won’t be ready to restart my tour in Europe in February,” she wrote.
The singer said in an announcement video that the spasms are already disrupting her daily life. “Unfortunately, these spasms influence every area of my everyday life, sometimes causing issues when I walk and not enabling me to utilize my vocal chords to sing the way I’m used to,” she explained.
As the name implies, the sickness causes the body’s muscles to tighten, which worsens with time and eventually turns individuals who have it into statues who are frequently unable to move at all.
Dion informed me that she is working closely with her medical team and that she is receiving a lot of support from her close relatives.
The Oscar-winning singer said in 2014 that she was putting her career on hiatus “indefinitely” as her husband René Angélil fought illness and died in 2016.
Her brother, Daniel Dion, died unexpectedly in the same year (2016), prompting her to take a year off.
