Call off Independence Day celebrations – John Dumelo

John Dumelo, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirant, has asked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to postpone this year’s Independence Day celebrations.

He stated that the Ghanaian economy cannot currently support the March 6 celebrations in all regional capitals.
“Greetings @NAkufoAddo, respectfully we are in hard times, can you please cancel all state, regional, and district Independence Day celebrations?” the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency aspirant wrote on social media. You can do your usual ‘fellow Ghanaians’ television broadcast. We will save millions of cedis as a result of this. Thank you so much”.

Ghana’s 66th Independence Day will be celebrated on Monday, March 6, 2023.

The celebration, with the theme “Our Unity; Our Strength; Our Purpose,” would be attended by thousands of people from all over the country and the world.

The day will be marked by national and regional activities, including the main ceremony, which will take place in Ho, the Volta Regional capital.
