Yaw Danso, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosome Freho in the Ashanti Region, has been suspended for alleged illegal mining.
According to a letter obtained by Citi News from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, the suspension is to allow for an investigation into the claims.
There was audio circulating that implicated the Chief Executive in illegal mining activities.
Some members of his Assembly had already urged President Akufo-Addo to investigate the allegations thoroughly.
President Akufo-Addo told MMDCEs at a special meeting last week that Mr. Danso had been invited to defend himself against the charges.
