Attorney General opens new docket on Aisha Huang

The Attorney General and Minister of Justice have requested that a file be opened for Aisha Huang’s recent offences, for which she is on trial in an Accra Circuit Court.

The popular Chinese galamsey businesswoman was apprehended by intelligence after it was discovered she had circumvented immigration procedures to re-enter Ghana.

Despite being found guilty of illegally engaging in small-scale mining, she was deported in 2018.

As a result, many people were surprised when she continued to commit the same crime for which she was deported.
Following public outrage, the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has rejected all allegations of border porosity.

Michael Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs, insists that their diligence resulted in the arrest of Aisha Huang, also known as En Huang.

Before she returns to court on September 14, the Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, wants not only a new docket opened, but also wants to revisit the 2018 docket to continue her prosecution.

The well-known Chinese businesswoman has been charged with two counts of illegal mining and engaging in the sale and purchase of minerals without a valid license.

Already, the Service has threatened her with a two-year prison sentence if she is found to have violated the regulations prior to entry.
