On Tuesday night, a 47-year-old assistant headmaster of Mpatasie DA JHS in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti region died after falling into a galamsey pit in the area.
According to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), the deceased, Kwasi Anane, owned an illegal mining concession and hired others to work there.
He died after slipping and falling into a pit while inspecting activities on the said day.
Following the latest incident, NADMO says that various authorities should take immediate action to prevent similar deaths, as many people in the district have died in the same way in recent times.
