Amy Newman, a Ghanaian gospel musician, has released a new song after a long hiatus from active music.

Amy told Ghana Weekend TV that her absence from the scene was due to an unfortunate situation she encountered in 2018.

She stated she “lost herself” at the time and did not want to be around people. She expressed her gratitude to God for saving her, identifying the situation as spiritual.

Amy Newman stated that she believes her new song, ‘I am Redeemed,” which was inspired by her experience, would be a blessing to those who are experiencing similar situations.

She also expressed her displeasure with musicians who use her songs without her consent.

She thinks it’s a bad practice that needs to end.
She continued by saying that anytime she chooses songs by other people, she either gets their permission or gives them credit.

“I am a mother, and I know that people adore my song. Therefore, if you want to take my song and perform a rendition, please get in touch with me.”

“Knowing that someone has acknowledged something that God used me to do and also desires to do it, gives me joy. But nobody ever gets in touch with you, so you just watch them sing and prefer to profit from it,” she said.

Amy stated that the people who perform her songs are unaware of the inspiration behind the compositions.

She was also grateful to Kaywa, a music producer, for assisting her with the composition and production of her new song.

The 62-year-old musician has 13 albums to her name, with hits including ‘Okamafo Jesus,’ ‘Tsei Me Moborsu,’ and ‘Ateasefo.’
