Akufo Addo commissions inmates’ reformation center at Nsawam

To begin day two of his three-day working tour of the Eastern Region, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned an inmate skills acquisition and reformation center at Nsawam.

The 320-bed capacity facility built and donated by the Church of Pentecost is the second of five model prison camps that are part of the church’s 5-year strategic vision to decongest the country’s prisons.

Speaking at a durbar to dedicate the facility, the Director of Prison Services, Isaac Kofi Egyiri, who praised the Church for its support, stated that the service will expand prison agriculture to ensure food security at the prison.

President Akufo-Addo, who also praised the Church of Pentecost for its exemplary efforts in addressing prison congestion, stated that the government will provide the necessary support to the service in order to realize the vision of achieving food security.
