The Sefwi Akontombra Rice Factory was built as part of the 1-District-1-Factory Common User Facility (CUF), an agro-industrial factory established by the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s Rural Enterprises Programme (REP).
According to President Akufo-Addo, the factory will employ 118 people, including management professionals, factory floor workers, and plantation workers who will work on a nucleus rice farm.
Furthermore, over 600 farmers from the Sefwi Akontombra District and surrounding communities will be directly employed to supply paddy rice for processing.
The Rural Enterprises Programme (REP) has established five (5) of these CUFs across the country with funding from the African Development Bank.
