Instead of a jail sentence, the Tema High Court ordered controversial Ghanaian comedian Afia Schwarzenegger to pay GHC60,000.
This occurred today, January 31, 2023, during her contempt case hearing.
According to GhanaWeb, in addition to paying the fine, she has been barred from social media banter for two years.
The socialite is currently being held by the Tema High Court, and the court has ordered that she be released once the full amount of the assigned funds is paid.
Afia Schwarzenegger, the controversial media personality, was charged with contempt of court a few months ago in her case involving famous Ghanaian politician, Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi.
She was sentenced to ten days in jail for contempt of court. According to reports, despite the fact that a branch warrant was issued for Afia Schwarzenegger’s arrest, the media personality never served her sentence.
Her lawyers, on the other hand, filed a motion on notice for a sentence variation on December 20, 2022.
Nana Ama McBrown, A Plus, Fadda Dickson, and the Management of the United Showbiz programme were also fined GHC 60,000 each by the Tema Circuit Court for contempt.
Chairman Wontumi recently sued Nana Ama McBrown, Afia Schwarzenegger, Mr Aplus, Mr Logic, and the Management of the United Showbiz Show for discussing a court case between Afia Schwarzenegger and Mr Chairman Wontumi on live television.
