The Higher and Tertiary Education ministry has sent invitations to universities all over the country. The ministry wants to train at least 20 lecturers from each facility.
Members of institutions are expected to cover the cost of attending Midlands State University’s orientation on January 23 and 24.
NewZimbabwe.com found a letter to universities stating that if the intended number of people attend, the total cost of meals and lodging will be $65,000 US.
“From January 23 to 24, 2023, the Chitepo School of Ideology will hold a workshop for university and college lecturers at Midlands State University’s Main Campus.
“In accordance with His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde., the School has prepared a Basic Orientation Course designed to offer ideological orientation to all sectors of Zimbabwean society, “living no one and no place behind.” E. D. Mnangagwa, Dr.
The letter reads, “The Ministry is cordially inviting a maximum of twenty (20) members of staff from each institution to attend this very important workshop” in light of this.
Dates of Travel: 22 and 25 January 2023, whereas the Expected Learning: 23 and 24 January 2023.
“For the duration of the stay, Midlands State University shall provide lodging and meals.
The letter states, “Institutions are therefore required to pay their members directly to the hosting institution.”
Hopewell Chin’ono, a critic of the government, said of the development, “This only shows that the government’s priorities were misplaced.”
“In just three days, academics participating in a Zanu PF indoctrination program have wasted US$65,000 in public funds.
“Two maternity theaters could be built with the same amount. “In 42 years, ZANUPF has not built a single maternity theater at Zimbabwe’s largest hospital, but it does this,” he stated in a tweet.
After officers were instructed to attend the civic education meetings coordinated by the Zanu PF party as part of its indoctrination program, it was recently reported that morale in the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) was at its lowest point. This was the result of the order.
According to reports, police officers are currently undergoing civic education training in which Zanu PF leaders will educate them on the party’s ideology and urge them to vote for the ruling party.
Pastors working under Pastors for ED are also expected to receive the same training, according to reports.
Pastors for ED National Chairperson Idiraishe Dongo claims that the Chitepo School of Ideology will provide training to over 10,000 Zimbabwean pastors.
She stated that the initiative aims to cultivate patriotic pastors.
