Four people have been confirmed dead in Takoradi, in the western region, following an accident.
The crash is said to have happened in the early hours of Sunday, January 1, 2023, involving two buses.
A sprinter bus registered in the Republic of Liberia with the registration number LB-B11992 and an Assemblies of God bus with the registration number GT 4481-22.
The Assemblies of God bus was carrying some church members from Accra to Asankragwa, while the sprinter was traveling in the opposite direction.
According to an eyewitness, the sprinter had overtaken many vehicles at high speeds before colliding with the bus while negotiating a curve at New Apostolic Junction in Kojokrom.
“The yellow bus was carrying church members to Accra for a camp meeting. It collided with the sprinter vehicle on its way back to Asankragwa.” Four Liberian sprinter bus passengers have been confirmed dead, with others in critical condition.
Meanwhile, passengers on the Ghanaian bus suffered minor injuries and are being treated at a hospital.
The Ghana National Fire Service and Police responded quickly to the situation.
