John Dumelo, the National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, has expressed confidence in winning the 2024 election hands down.
According to the veteran actor and farmer, he managed to bridge the gap between himself and the sitting member of parliament Lydia Seyram Alhassan in the last election through hard work in the constituency, which is known to be a stronghold for the incumbent New Patriotic Party.
“In Ayawaso West Wuogon, 2024 is a must-win. As a parliamentary candidate in 2020, we worked hard to reduce the gap from 10,000 to under 1,900. “It’s time to sit,” Dumelo wrote on Facebook. “Let’s all pitch in.”
He has declared his intention to run in the NDC primaries to become the party’s candidate in the constituency in the run-up to the 2024 general election.
Meanwhile, Fred Nuamah, a well-known Ghanaian actor and the CEO of Ghana Movie Awards, has picked up a nomination form to run for the same seat.
Thank you all for the congratulatory messages. 2024 is a must win in Ayawaso West Wuogon. As parliamentary candidate in 2020, we closed the gap from 10,000 to under 1,900 through hard work. It’s time to take the seat. Let’s all get involved. #istilldey4u #2ndcoming pic.twitter.com/KUvEDzk8P6

Because they are all heavyweights, the contest between the two celebrities is expected to be heated.
Dumelo ran in the 2020 parliamentary election against incumbent MP Lydia Seyram Alhassan, but the margin was narrower than in previous elections in the constituency between the NDC and NPP.
