Dr Nyaho-Nyaho Tamakloe, former chairman of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], believes Andre Ayew does not deserve to be benched ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
The Al Sadd forward has recently been chastised for his performance for the national team.
Several football fans have urged the Black Stars’ head coach, Otto Addo, to keep him on the bench ahead of Mundial.
Dr Tamakloe, a Hearts of Oak board member, believes the former Swansea City and West Ham United forward has made significant sacrifices for the country.
According to him, Andre, the Black Stars’ captain, is a good footballer, and keeping him on the bench is completely wrong.
“It is completely inappropriate to bench the Black Stars captain.” “Totally wrong,” he told Angel TV in Accra.
“Andre Ayew is a very good footballer who has contributed significantly to the team.”
“I believe we should rather encourage him and allow him to play an important role in Qatar,” he added.
Andre Ayew is expected to captain the Black Stars during the tournament, which will take place from November 20 to December 18.

Ghana is in Group G, along with Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay. The 22nd Mundial will take place from November 20 to December 18.
